After watching ghost hunting shows on TV, Kat, (who watched every horror movie made, who snuck in a Ouija Board in her bedroom as a young girl and who loved everything spooky), thought, "why can't I do this too" and started looking for like-minded people on MySpace. Yes, it was that long ago, and in June 2008, Porterville Ghost Society was created.

People started to reach out, curious and excited that there were others that had the same interests in the small town of Porterville, (nestled against the foothills in a rural county in California). The very first recruit is still a member today.  He is an experienced, respected investigator that thankfully isn’t scared of anything. 

Porterville Ghost Society (PGS), quickly became known in paranormal circles as a fun loving, ethical, hard working group that could be counted on. PGS was tapped by TAPS members (the original Ghost Hunters) to assist with a paranormal event in Clovis at the very haunted Wolfe Manor. 

Observing how dedicated PGS was, the group was invited to become part of the elite TAPS Family and are still active members today. PGS has organized large paranormal events throughout Tulare County, enabling PGS to work and investigate with many well known people in the paranormal field, resulting in many of them becoming personal, lifelong  friends.

PGS has grown and evolved with several people that have come and gone. We value each one of them that has been a member of the group. Some married and built families, some moved away, some had jobs that did not agree with ghost hunting schedules. We keep in touch with most of them, and even have our own reunions when we can. Our relationships are long lasting as many remain part of the extended PGS family.

PGS is deeply rooted in the community; we investigate regularly at Allensworth State Historic Park, Porterville Historical Museum, Hanford Carnegie Museum and were the first group to develop the Zalud House as a haunted location. All proceeds collected at these locations are given right back to the park and museum to assist them in purchasing needed items for their programs. PGS also organizes food drives for homeless pets in order to make their lives a bit easier.  Members also volunteer at pet adoption events to help find forever homes.
