The Mason House
Dr. Tourtillott moved to Lindsay in 1904, setting up practice in a beautiful house he bought from the Sears Catalog. He even put in a lovely stained glass window which added some charm. The Dr ran his medical office out of the house until 1918 when the Spanish Flu epidemic hit the area. He was forced to operate a hospital out of his home due to the outbreak. PGS has not discovered any documented deaths or instances to substantiate local rumors. He was a hardworking, dedicated medical professional that moved his practice to Porterville, 13 miles south of Lindsay.
Several families have lived in the home so reported activity could be caused by prior residents or anyone in the vicinity. PGS has experienced a heavy, thick atmosphere in the back area of the house and going upstairs is very unsettling and creepy. Many people refuse to go up there alone. There have also been reports of the sounds of piano notes. Several families owned pianos around the turn of the century. There is a piano currently in the parlor. Footsteps, knocking sounds, unseen hands touching, and loud thuds have been experienced.
