The Tools of the Trade
Porterville Ghost Society is not a huge promoter of expensive equipment as we have found the simplest tools can get the same results.
Don’t get us wrong, we love the newest, blinkiest, noisiest gadgets around too, we just don’t think anyone needs to feel they aren’t prepared to hunt ghosts unless they have the flashiest, most expensive tool out there.
All you need is a decent priced digital recorder, an EMF tool, a flashlight (believe it, you will know how important these are when you don’t bring one), maybe a camera (cell phone cameras actually work really well).
Our own personal arsenal includes:
K-II meters (very reliable)-indicates energy sources
REM-Pod (flashy blinky)-will let you know not so subtly that there is energy
Various Digital Recorders-get one you can operate and has the ability to transfer and download audio files
Infrared Cameras and Lights
Go Pro Camera
DVR System
Laser Pointers-no..do not point at helicopters, people...but cats sure love them
Laser Grid-not only looks cool but can indicate movement
GeoPhone-picks up movement such as footsteps, bumps
Boo Buddy (a cuddly teddy bear that lets you know if it is being touched, temperature differences)
Motion detectors
FLIR cameras (very pricey, we have 3 that connect to our phones)
Trigger Objects-tobacco, candy, toys, balloons, etc-to bribe the spirits with
Frank’s box-we do not use this very often as it is very random and not used as evidence
Period music
White noise machine
For quality, unique and affordable equipment, we recommend Ghost Stop.
